Have you ever wondered why some patterns in your life feel so deeply ingrained, as though they’ve been with you forever? My journey with perinatal experiences began long before I consciously recognised their significance. As a practitioner, I’ve always been drawn to the subtle yet profound ways early life experiences imprint on our subconscious and shape how we experience life.
Again and again, I saw how challenges we face as adults—feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected—often seem to parallel our earliest moments, even before birth. This realisation became the foundation for my work with perinatal experiences and essences.
The challenge we face as practitioners is clear: most of us know only fragments about our mother’s pregnancy and our own birth. This can discourage us from exploring a crucial developmental stage in our sessions. Yet, this period lays the foundation for how we see the world and ourselves, creating blueprints of primal beliefs that influence us long into adulthood.
The Four Perinatal Matrices: Foundations of Experience
We could use many frameworks to study life in the womb (such as trimesters or brain development), but the one I find most useful is the Four Perinatal Matrices, conceptualised by Czech psychiatrist Stanislav Grof. These matrices map out the psychological and emotional imprints associated with key stages of conception, pregnancy, and birth. I love this framework because it focuses on the baby’s—and our own—emotional perspective. Once you've learned to identify them, they make deep sense, opening a new perspective.
The four stages include:
The Amniotic Universe (Conception and Early Pregnancy): A time of unity, connection, and expansion—or a sense of threat and uncertainty if the environment feels unsafe. This stage lays the foundation for trust and a sense of belonging.
The Cosmic Conflict (Late Pregnancy): As space in utero becomes limited, we face our first experiences of struggle. This stage introduces themes of pressure, anticipation, and stress, shaping how we deal with challenges.
The Birth Process (Transition through the Birth Canal): The intense journey of birth demands trust, surrender, and determination. Experiences during this stage influence how we navigate transitions and embrace change.
The New World (Postnatal Period): Our earliest experiences of bonding—or feeling alone and abandoned—shape our ability to connect with others, and feel valued and secure in relationships.
Each stage leaves emotional and physical patterns that can manifest in later life. For example, I recently worked with a client who was feeling rushed and angry during an important life transition. Exploring his birth story, we discovered he had been born via an early planned C-section, which interrupted the natural flow of his birthing process. Conversely, those who experienced prolonged labour may show perseverance in similar situations, but risk burnout. It's important to note that there are no fixed rules, but learning to recognise the cues helps us confidently activate what I call perinatal lens, from which we can facilitate revealing insights.
Since perinatal experiences are preverbal, they are deeply ingrained in our physical and emotional bodies. This is where Flower and Vibrational Essences come in, offering a unique way to address these imprints. They speak directly to those subconscious patterns, gently releasing stuck energy or unresolved emotions.

Insights from Working with Pregnant Clients and Babies
After seeing the profound impact of perinatal experiences on adult life, my dream was to work directly with babies. I wondered how their lives might unfold if their emotional needs were met—or at least acknowledged—from the womb. In 2015, life led me to work intensely with pregnant individuals, which brought invaluable insights. Always with permission and deep awe for those wise souls, I began studying babies’ chakras. Through dowsing and energy healing, I communicated intuitively with babies at different stages of pregnancy, uncovering profound truths.
To mention just some, I realised the importance of the seventh chakra in early pregnancy, which supports the baby’s connection to their spiritual guides and gives reassurance that it’s safe to stay and develop in this life. Later in pregnancy, the first chakra becomes crucial—it must open in preparation for birth, allowing the baby to take an active role in the birthing process and be born healthy and strong. These discoveries shaped my understanding of energy flow and how blocks form during the different matrices, continuing to inform my work with vibrational essences and clients.
Case Study: From Fear to Freedom
One client, "Robert," came to me after years of struggling with severe panic attacks and phobias, alongside a continuous sense of threat and distrust. He lived in near-complete isolation, leaving his flat only in pre-booked taxis to attend therapy sessions. Despite his dedication to healing, something felt stuck, and his psychotherapist referred him to me, sensing there was a missing piece in his journey.
During our first session, I dowsed to explore the roots of his challenges and discovered they stemmed from early pregnancy. When I asked about his prenatal history, Robert recalled hearing that his mother had experienced a serious complication involving toxic amniotic fluid. He described always feeling as though the world was a menacing place, as if a shadow loomed over him. It was revealing to see how this deep-rooted sense of unsafety had always been there!
We worked with a combination of essences to address these early imprints. Harris Hawk opened the portal to his perinatal memories. Tepual helped restore his sense of basic safety and integrity. Pico de Loro brought in strong angelic protection to release free-floating fears and anxiety, while Belloto del Norte helped his soul recognise what was his and what belonged to his mother. Over time, Robert noticed significant shifts. He ventured outside more often, reduced his reliance on taxis, and even formed new connections. For the first time, he was beginning to experience a sense of safety and hope.
The Power of Early Healing
Perinatal experiences are the blueprint of our lives. By addressing these foundational imprints, we can unlock profound healing and transformation. I'd love to invite you to explore your own experiences, as integrating them can be as rewarding as impactful. And if this resonates, perhaps we’ll cross paths in a future course, diving deeper into the beautiful intersection of perinatal experiences and vibrational essences.
